Stay at any participating Inter-Continental, Forum or Global Partner hotel or resort in Asia-Pacific and you can choose from one of the following options: upgrade to a junior suite, one-bedroom suite or Club Inter-Continental accommodation; a second guest room at 50 per cent off; full American breakfast daily or double mileage with participating airlines.

Arrivals lounge Air Canada has opened an arrivals lounge in Vancouver which offers long-haul business travellers the opportunity to freshen up. It is equipped with six private showers and bathrooms and has valet services for clothes-pressing and shoe-cleaning.

Killing season While efforts are being made to increase wildlife in southern Africa by converting huge tracts of unviable former cattle-grazing land into private game reserves, some landowners are still promoting 'killing fields'. A South African was in Hong Kong recently trying to promote train-shoot safaris, in which the well-heeled take the luxury Rovis Rail train from Pretoria, through Zimbabwe and Zambia, stopping off to kill game birds.

Rail pass A new pass for train travel in Europe, aimed at families and small groups, will be available next year. This Europass Saverpass will give a discount of 15 per cent a person off other Europasses to groups of two to five people travelling together.

The prices of all but the new Europass Saverpass will increase by about three per cent beginning January 1, and a traveller who buys a pass before then will have up to six months to start using it.
