A leading entertainment firm manager died after his car crashed and careered for about 150 metres in Sha Tin yesterday. Fitto Entertainment general manager, Ip Sung-yan, 27, lost control of his Mercedes-Benz in the New Territories-bound lane of Sha Tin Road outside Sha Tin racecourse on his way home to Kau To Shan at 1.45am. 'The car ploughed into the central divider and then rolled and slid for about 150 metres before it came to a stop,' Superintendent Li Chiu-keung from the New Territories South traffic unit said. Ip was trapped and had to be freed by firefighters. He was dead on arrival at Prince of Wales Hospital. The car, extensively damaged, was taken to Kwai Shing government vehicle plant for examination. Meanwhile, a 70-year-old woman died after she was knocked down and trapped under a cement mixer while crossing Westlands Road near the junction with Tai Koo Shing Road, Quarry Bay. Law Pak Yuk-mei was freed by firefighters at about 11am but was dead on arrival at hospital.
