'Dr Toilet' launched a competition yesterday to identify the cleanest public conveniences in town.

Provisional Urban Council chairman Ronald Leung Ding-bong returned to his pet subject as he urged people to vote for the cleanest public toilet and public market toilet to win travel coupons, electrical goods and gift packs.

The field for the Clean Public Toilets Casting Award has already been narrowed to five in each category. Votes for the best can be registered on a toll-free hotline 9003 0022 until January 10.

Cleansing contractors and cleaners of the winning toilets will receive prizes.

The best public toilet will be selected from those in Wing Wo Street, Central; Tai Hang Road, Wan Chai District; Hospital Road, Western District; Pok Man Street, Mongkok; and Sheung Yuen Street, Wong Tai Sin.

The best market toilet contenders are at Tin Wan, Smithfield, Fa Yuen Street, Pei Ho Street and Hung Hom markets.
