The Hoyer Group of Hamburg is co-operating with a mainland partner in a joint venture to distribute petroleum products, chemicals and lubricants by road tanker in the Pearl River Delta.

The venture, which will be centred initially in Guangzhou, has an option to extend services to the Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tianjin areas.

As part of initiatives to gain a foothold in the mainland, a joint-venture company, Guangzhou Hoyer Sinobulk, has been established to undertake the transport of chemicals, oil and lubricants.

The company will invest US$5 million in road tankers and associated infrastructure to service the new business.

The Hoyer presence in the new Guangzhou company is through Hoyer Sinobulk of Hong Kong, which is a joint venture established with a German freight-forwarding company to develop mainland transport projects.
