FUN-LOVING bridesmaids gave legislator the Reverend Fung Chi-wood an unforgettable wedding yesterday by asking him to perform four somersaults before taking his bride to the church. Anglican priest Mr Fung, 36, yesterday tied the knot with his Catholic girlfriend Miss Kristine Yuen Suk-ling, at St Margaret's Church, Happy Valley. About 250 guests attended, including Mr Fung's United Democrats colleagues Mr Martin Lee Chu-ming, Mr Yeung Sum, Mr Lee Wing-tat, Mr James To Kun-sun, Mr Albert Chan Wai-yip, Mr Cheung Man-kwong, and Mr Lau Chin-shek. Dressed in a dark suit, Mr Fung appeared slightly nervous during the one-hour ceremony. Mr Fung later said, grinning proudly: ''Today I proved I am fit. I was tested on 10 items before being allowed to see Kristine this morning. I turned four perfect continuous somersaults.'' Mr Fung was referring to the Chinese tradition that the bridegroom was quizzed and had to undergo tests of his physical fitness by bridesmaids before he took the bride. However, Mr Fung politely declined media interviews with his wife, whose age is a well-kept secret. Liberal Party's Mrs Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee and Mr Moses Cheng Mo-chi, Meeting Point's Dr Leong Che-hung and Mr Zachary Wong Wai-yin, and independents Mr Andrew Wong Wang-fat and Mr Eric Li Ka-cheung also attended yesterday's ceremony. Officials who attended included Secretary for Health and Welfare Mrs Elizabeth Wong Chien Chi-lien, Secretary for Trade and Industry Mr Chau Tak-hay, Secretary for Works Mr James Blake, and Secretary for Education and Manpower Mr John Chan Cho-chak. The reception was held at City Hall.
