A thieving taxi passenger led police on a car chase through Wan Chai yesterday after the driver he had robbed leaped from his cab. Police said the man robbed the driver of $300, then took over the wheel and drove off after he fled. A man, 27, was arrested after the chase, which took place at about 3.30am. Police said the passenger robbed the driver, then ordered him to drive from Shau Kei Wan to Central. The driver jumped out in Wan Chai, and got into another cab to pursue the thief. Police were called and joined the pursuit, which ended in Harbour Road. Meanwhile, a mainlander, 27, was arrested in connection with the robbery of two taxi drivers in Jordan. Police said a passenger passed a note demanding cash to a 40-year-old driver just after 1am. The driver gave the man $400. Soon afterwards, a passenger passed a similar note to another cab driver, 37, who refused to hand over money. The passenger fled after snatching $40 from the driver's shirt pocket.
