Asia's top golfers and selected professionals tee off tomorrow in the Volvo Asian Matchplay Championship, a tournament that marks the end of Asian PGA season.
The invitational event, which is the first professional tournament to be played on the recently opened Jumbo Ozaki course at Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, features 24 players from China, Australia, Japan and Africa and the best from the Asian PGA field.
The Hugo Boss Foursomes, an integral part of the event since its inception in 1996, will be included as part of the US$265,000 tournament which finishes on Sunday.
Defending champion Des Terblanche, of South Africa, automatically qualified, having won last year in the Philippines when Australian challenger Brett Partridge was forced to withdraw with injury after 27 holes of the scheduled 36-hole final.
Terblanche, who finished 32nd on the Order of Merit this year with $45,309, was leading by two strokes at the time.
Other players with automatic byes include Ed Fryatt and Chris Williams, winners of the two Volvo events on the Omega Tour circuit.
