Tips on submitting academic papers to journals.

Read each journal's 'information for author's' sheet. If you submit a manuscript to more than one journal, make sure each submission conforms to each journal's format.

Limit the number of authors cited. Only those who have participated significantly enough in the work to take responsibility for a meaningful share of its content should be included. They should also have contributed to its writing and signed off on the final version of the manuscript.

Use a clear, straightforward style. Avoid sentence constructions that require a second reading. Use only accepted acronyms.

Keep reference lists to a useful length. Cite only those references needed to substantiate declarative sentences.

Edit and re-edit your work. Check your paper carefully not only for clarity, but for spelling and grammatical errors. A sloppily written paper might cause reviewers to question the soundness of your science. It is your responsibility - not the editor's - to make sure your bibliography is accurate.
