Furbies star in online auction

A small, furry, electronic pet has become this year's 'must-get' toy.

Furbies have sold out in the United States and Europe and have changed hands for thousands of dollars on auction sites on the Internet.

Now Operation Santa Claus has 12 of the lovable 'pets', which are not on sale locally, donated by maker Tiger Toys Electronics to auction in time for Christmas.

Each Furby can speak its own 'Furbish' language. They also can learn English and play games with their owners. Furbies can wiggle their ears, shut their eyes when sleeping and laugh when tickled, making them an instant hit with everyone they meet.

The auction will close on December 21.
