EARLY evening viewing is given a big lift with the return of the spoof cop series Sledge Hammer (World, 6.30pm).

David Rasche hilariously sends up all those macho, street-wise cops in his role as Hammer, a cop so tough he makes Rambo look like Pee Wee Herman. His trademarks are reflector sunglasses and a .44 magnum he affectionately nicknames Gun.

In this episode, the mayor's daughter has been kidnapped - either that or she's very good at hiding. Hammer is called in to find her because the only cop on the force equal to the case is on suspension for excessive brutality. . . again.

PAUL George and Valerie Chow continue to feed us more Hollywood snippets on Eye on Hongkong (Pearl, 7.35pm).

Valerie has a short chat with Bo Derek at Planet Hollywood, the in-restaurant run by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis, while Paul visits the set of Dudley, a new TV sitcom starring Dudley Moore, where he interviews the pint-sized actor.
