The competition - the only one of its kind in the mainland and Hong Kong - will be held at Big Wave Bay, Shek O, over the weekend.
Hong Kong Surfing Association (HKSA) co-founder, Francesco Suarez, said: 'Last year's Quiksilver Hong Kong Surfing Cup allowed the HKSA to achieve many important goals - including sending the SAR's first-ever surfing team to compete in an international competition in Bali, Indonesia.' Organisers are hoping that the local event, which is being held with co-operation from the Provisional Urban Council, will help discover potential surfers and promote the sport.
