'Indiana Jones' deserved escort
ON the afternoon of April 7, I encountered a group of seven uniformed police constables on the pedestrian way in front of Kowloon Park's shopping lane and realised that I could pass without being asked to purchase copy watches.
This feeling reminded me of Glenn Gale's April 2 piece on ''Indiana Jones' '' plank-walk by proxy, along Nathan Road, opposite Chungking Mansion to test the copy-watch menace (Keeping Posted).
Well, if it takes a platoon of seven police stalwarts to keep the coast clear for tourists who wish to be left alone by touts, I suggest that Sir Ranulph Fiennes should have been accorded the courtesy of a police escort to match my tout-free stroll.
