LIVING in this stunning family home would be a dream come true for many people.

  It certainly is a dream location - up in the clouds on the prestigious Peak and perched out on the side of a very steep hill.

  Looking out across Aberdeen harbour is a joy. But, for the faint-hearted, there is the odd hazard.

  For example, it would not be the perfect abode for those who get dizzy standing on a kerb, or shiver at the mere thought of Alfred Hitchcock's film, Vertigo.

  If the prospective buyer's name is Nigel Mansell, he should perhaps reconsider.

  The reason is simple. The driveway requires careful consideration because it is a short run from the strong metal entry gate to a concrete wall at the end.

  On the other side is a sheer drop.

  In case you overdo it, there are strong metal wheel barriers to help stop the car.

  For careful drivers, the steep climb to the house is a small price to pay for the stunning view over Aberdeen and out to Lantau and Lamma.

  It is best admired from the car parking area where the tower blocks of Aberdeen look like match boxes in the distance.

  Perched on a ledge and constructed on four levels, the house has an unusual location.

  The parking area has four spaces for the two four-storey homes stretching down the hillside.

  They are surrounded by trees on one side and nothing but fresh air on the other.

  This is a home to keep its new owner fit.

  Four floors mean eight flights of stairs and, no doubt, each occupier will develop a strong pair of legs after a few months.

  On the top level, a spacious balcony provides a perfect lookout from which to admire the hills.

  Look to your left and enjoy the vista of Aberdeen, Lantau and Lamma islands.

 This room is ideal for functions or parties. A huge fireplace can become a barbecue at the flick of a match and the balcony is easily big enough for a large dining table.

    Down a level is the main lounge and dining area, features of which are their full-length windows.

  These rooms are bounded by a permanent set of shelves on one side and a full-length mirror on the other.

  Outside, there is a small balcony - perfect to admire the view, with an awning to provide protection from the elements.

  Or, it could be the ideal spot for lying under the sun lounger and brushing up on your tan.

  Towards the rear is a kitchen which is bigger than many flats in Hongkong, with plenty of open space for a table and chairs to make a second dining area.

  Cupboard space is also ample, with an extensive display of fitted units, laid out in a convenient and user-friendly way which makes cooking a delight rather than a chore.

  At the top of the stairs on this level is the guest bathroom.

  Down again and another living area sweeps into view. This is surrounded by four bedrooms.

  A balcony off the master bedroom has been restructured to become an extension to the room itself.

  This is perfect for wandering about in a dressing-gown on sunny mornings, reading the paper and enjoying a leisurely breakfast against a backdrop of the panoramic view.

  Because of this extended space, the room is enormous and makes a palatial boudoir.

  It has a king-sized bed, bedside tables and a dressing table and chair.

  But there is still seemingly space for an energetic game of football or a 100-metre sprint! After that, take a shower in the elegantly appointed en suite bathroom.

  On the same side is the guest bedroom, nowhere as near as large as the main bedroom but more than adequately spacious. To the back, are two more rooms, but these lack a view.

  Finally, you reach the ground floor which can be used for almost anything.

  In its current format it is a combined workshop and play area. The neighbours have turned a similar area in their house into bedrooms.

  The room, which covers 500 square feet, resembles a garage with its concrete floor and simple surrounds.

  However, it has potential.

  This could be fitted out to become a superb gym.

  Or, it is big enough to become a large games room.

  A full-sized snooker table - and more - could fit in without any problems.

  Outside, there's a rocky path. It begins from somewhere under the house itself and leads up to the main road.
