A martial arts expert has been denied a rematch with Jean-Claude Van Damme.

 A Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Friday rejected Frank Dux's request for a new trial in his breach of contract suit against the Belgian action movie star.

 A jury last month dismissed Dux's claim that The Quest, a 1991 movie which Van Damme directed and starred in, was similar to the manuscript Enter the New Dragon: The Kumite, which they both wrote. Dux had sought US$1.5 million (HK$11.6 million).

 A spokesman for Van Damme could not be reached for comment on Friday.



Fighter's quest ends
