The Hong Kong-born former governor of a Canadian province has made a $1 million contribution to a local school.
David Lam, British Columbia's former lieutenant-governor, made the donation to the Canadian International School during a visit to the school's new site in Aberdeen.
The school will soon move to its new home on Nam Long Shan Road.
Mr Lam said: 'This new school is a tremendous example of the quality of our programmes and will help to further forge the strong links between Canada and Hong Kong and China.' Born in Hong Kong, Dr Lam served as the Canadian province's 25th lieutenant-governor from 1988 to 1995.
He has also set an example through his generous contributions to Canadian society, according to the school.
The school's new campus won a North American architectural award in 1996.
