CHRISTCHURCH: The bid to build New Zealand's first casino has been won by a consortium including Aspinall (NZ), a subsidiary of London-based casino operator John Aspinall and Japanese hotel and property group Daikyo.

The Christchurch Casinos consortium beat a rival bid backed by ITT Sheraton after two weeks of lengthy hearings by the New Zealand Government's Casino Control Authority.
