Mick's winning return
IRISH champion jockey Mick Kinane had a wet but winning welcome home yesterday, writes Robin Parke.
The 33-year-old international star won on the smart juvenile Advocat (6-4) in the 15-runner Gowran Maiden at the provincial track of Gowran Park.
And he won the race for Sheik Mohammed who offered Kinane the job of first jockey this season. After two weeks of soul-searching in Hongkong and a round-trip dash to London, Kinane turned him down.
Advocat is trained by John Oxx, a big fan of Kinane, and the man who looks after most of the Sheik's Irish interests.
