If you have made all the free changes and are still worried about carpal tunnel, here are some current choices in ergonomic keyboards: Microsoft's Natural Keyboard Elite (www.micro soft.com, US$65, Windows) will not split left half from right but does angle those halves and breaks them out of their traditional rigid lines into a more comfortable layout.
This keyboard has a built-in palm-rest and large special keys.
Logitech's NewTouch Split Ergonomic Keyboard (www.logitech.com, $50, Windows) looks quite similar, with angled keyboard halves and contoured lines of keys.
It adds a wrist-rest and a touchpad with 'SpeedScroll' for easy moving within large documents or Web pages.
Instead of Microsoft's two-year warranty, Logitech offers a three-year promise.
Adesso (www.adesso inc.com, Windows or Macintosh) offers a variety of ergonomic keyboards with brand names such as TruForm and NuForm.
