Action on abuse

THE Social Welfare Department has strengthened the unit which handles child abuse cases with more experienced social workers. Case workers at the child protective services unit were increased from eight to nine after January 1991, the Government said. The ranking of case workers had been upgraded from assistant social work officer rank to the social work officer.
