Thousands gathered at the Family Fun Carnival for the countdown on New Year's Eve.
The Provisional Urban Council enlisted the help of international and local artists to stage an exciting countdown party in Victoria Park.
The carnival, with the theme of 'Energetic Youths and Adolescents', featured four hours of non-stop entertainment.
Two stages were set up - the music stage, and the dance and fringe stage.
Taking the leading place on the music stage were five soloists from Sweden who sang a wide range of songs including pop, gospel and disco-groove.
This was followed by a 'Hong Kong Music Countdown' presented by local singers and bands who re-mixed hits from the past 30 years, ranging from Beatles to Canto-pop.
On the dance and fringe stage, Australia's Batacuda, dressed in colourful costumes, displayed their music, juggling, gymnastic and drumming skills.
