A leading academic says there is pleasure to be derived from the pursuit of knowledge.

Speaking at the sixth annual speech day of Ma On Shan Tsung Tsin Secondary School, Professor Chung Yue-Ping of the Chinese University of Hong Kong said acquiring knowledge was a life-long process and it need not be boring.

Professor Chung, the guest- of-honour, called on the school to adopt a 'student-centred' approach as the basis for all future activities.

Reverend Calvin Chu, speaking on the topic, 'Be a promise keeper', encouraged students to be conscientious and said they should be ready to face future challenges.

Principal Law Yi-shu urged the students to keep up their good work after improved performances in the HKCEE.

Long-service awards were presented to five teachers and four staff members who were also commended for their outstanding performances.
