One of my friends was hit on the back by a security guard in a public area. Another friend of mine was punched several times in the side and in the chest by a man and I have been chased out of public areas by security guards.

There is nowhere for us to go to enjoy our sport in Hong Kong. We are constantly faced with aggressive behaviour.

In America skateboarding has been recognised as a major sport, because of the skill involved, with skateboarders executing complicated manoeuvres.

There are frequent competitions in the US with professional skateboarders who are sponsored by top local and foreign companies. These competitions are shown on television and there are magazines with articles about the sport.

It is also a popular sport in countries like Australia and Germany. Even in Asia, in Japan, Singapore, Macau and Bali, venues are provided for skateboarders. So, surely, Hong Kong could also help the skateboarders solve their problem and find them a venue.

Hong Kong needs a purpose-built skatepark. This would eliminate the conflicts between ourselves and other members of the public.
