Actress-cum-singer Gigi Leung Wing-kei says her latest Cantonese album presents a more mature image than her previous efforts.
Released last November, I'll Be Loving You is Leung's third Cantonese album after Ai Zi Ji and Xin Yu, both produced in 1997.
The title track I'll Be Loving You, Wasting Time and Freedom have been huge hits with Leung's fans. Her offerings range from slow-tempo ballads to fast, passionate numbers.
Apart from writing lyrics, the 22- year-old also tried her hand at composing for her new album. Leung, who created the melody for Happy Photos of a Playground, said her 'mature image' was designed to match the songs in the album.
'I am happy that the general public has a special liking for the songs I'll Be Loving You and Wasting Time. Actually, I like these two songs too,' the singer said.
'For my next album, I will try to make further improvements. I also hope I will be able to participate more on the production side, such as writing lyrics and composing songs.' Being tall for her age, Leung became a part-time model when she was at secondary school.
Her first big break came in 1995 when she played a supporting role in the movie, Mack the Knife. Then came Full Throttle, in which she was the lead actress.
