Luxury tours to India are being organised to attract wealthy tourists from Hong Kong.
Behind the project is the Oberoi Group, owners of India's top five-star hotel chain.
The initiative coincides with Visit India Year which begins on April 1.
'Our programme is something new for India - truly de luxe, five-star tours,' June Chui, the Oberoi Group's local spokeswoman, said.
'Upmarket tourism is very big everywhere, but the concept has not really been explored before in India. Most of the package tours on the market in Hong Kong are very cheap, with accommodation in two-star hotels and meals at cheaper restaurants.
'Our tours will be the opposite. Clients will only be taken to the very best hotels, some in palaces, and will be so exclusive that people can even adjust itineraries to suit their own timetables.' These luxury trips are not yet finalised, although one highlight already pencilled-in is Oberoi's new spa resort in Jaipur.
The Rajvillas complex 'is a first of its kind in India', Ms Chui said. 'It is Rajasthani-style with both luxury villas and tented rooms, but super de luxe.
