A MAN who robbed his girlfriend's ex-lover at knife-point twice in the same day has had his seven-year jail sentence cut by one year. Wong Chi-ming, 26, had denied two counts of robbery but was found guilty after trial before Judge Hartmann in the District Court. The Appeal Court comprising Mr Justice Penlington, Mr Justice Nazareth and Mr Justice Wong, agreed that seven years' jail was too long for the offence. The court heard that Mr Lee Kam-wing was robbed at his Chai Wan home on August 11, 1990, of $18,000 in cash, a $50,000 watch and a diamond ring by three people. Mr Lee's karaoke bar in Shau Kei Wan was also raided that day and a further $60,000 seized.
