WHAT'S the link between a Scottish peninsula, a book of male nudes and a British women's magazine - the Mull of Kintyre of course.

Apparently in Britain the publisher of a soft-porn magazine has been using the map position of the Scottish peninsula as a guide to decide if a picture of a male ''member'' is obscene or not.

The Mull of Kintyre runs at a tangent to the line of longitude on the map and the female publisher has decided that if the member lies at the same angle or less, it is acceptable, but anything above cannot be published.

Doubtless the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority folk will be using their atlas to assess the book of nude Oriental men that has apparently attracted 2,000 advance orders at $1,000 each, after a much-publicised mail shot last week.

We bring you a few shots from the book to help P.S. readers improve their knowledge of Scottish geography.
