A policeman put on probation for taking his service revolver and a Land Rover in an attempt to commit suicide, breached the order when he was later convicted of stealing a mobile telephone battery, a court heard yesterday. Madam Justice Clare-Marie Beeson yesterday extended the 18-month probation order she made in October 1997 to December this year. Chu Wing-nin, 33, who received nearly 40 commendations during his 10-year career, appeared before her at the Court of First Instance to be dealt with for the breach. She warned him that he could be jailed if he breached the order again. Chu was put on probation for 12 months by a magistrate in December for stealing the battery.
