A plan has been drawn up to vaccinate kindergarten children against flu. The Government was planning the vaccinations to prevent a flu outbreak in kindergartens as children contracted the illness easily in such environments, Assistant Director of Health Leung Pak-yin told the welfare services panel. Last year, the Government gave vaccinations at homes for the elderly. Acting Deputy Director of Social Welfare Eliza Leung Wong Kwok-shing said 21 elderly men and 14 elderly women died in the cold spell last month. Twenty of the deaths had not been caused by low temperatures but by heart disease, apoplexy and asthma.
