Irish star Michael Kinane returned to Hong Kong yesterday but will be in demand overseas during his six-week stint.

The globe-trotting star is back for an unexpected second spell this season, having ridden for five meetings in December, but could not be happier about the development.

'It is very good for me at this time and I hope that it will be successful. I had six weeks off racing completely so I am ready to get back into action again. I could be a bit stiff after Saturday.

'I am expecting to have six rides on Saturday at my first meeting and I am looking forward to riding Desert Fox in the Classic Trial. If he continues in the right way, I think he has to be a genuine Derby chance,' said Kinane, who is looking for his third success in the biggest domestic race on the calendar.

He won it for the first time in 1992 with Sound Print for Brian Kan Ping-chee and followed up two years ago with Che Sara Sara for David Oughton. Desert Fox races in the same interests.

Kinane will also be in demand in India and Saudi Arabia during his stay here.
