Foxy Brown - Chyna Doll (Violator Records/Def Jam Music) Sex sells is probably the only way to describe Foxy Brown's success. Sex, money and arrogant gangster posturing play into all the stereotypes female rappers have been trying to beat for years. Take the misguided BWA (Bitches With Attitude).

It doesn't help that Foxy's delivery hasn't developed much from the first album - you won't find much word play and intelligent rhyming here. The only really insightful track is My Life, where she speaks of 'a black girl's ordeal'.

And the beats, which are funky and likely to do well on dance floors, sound all too familiar. Can we say Wham? Guest appearances are also a major part of this album: Jay-Z spins his distinctive flow on Bonnie & Clyde Part II, DMX grunts through Dog & A Fox and R&B crooner Mya appears on the entertaining JOB.

The most interesting thing about this album is, oddly, the introduction in which a mother praises her daughter. Why a mother should be pleased that her teenage daughter can rhyme with various sexual acts says more about Foxy than anything else on this album.
