A sobbing 18-year-old, testifying in the presence of a member of a group accused of raping her, repeatedly told a court yesterday she could not recall the night in question. Wong Sin-wai, 36, is charged with raping the Cheung Chau resident twice on March 24 last year after she joined him and others at a karaoke bar on the island. The woman told police the next day she had been raped by several men between 3am and dawn. Wong is the only man charged before the Court of First Instance trial. 'I can't remember that night. I can't remember,' she said for the eighth time during cross-examination by prosecutor Andrew Bruce. Mr Bruce called for an adjournment until today to consider the case. The teenager said she had gone with friends to the bar and left after 1am to meet her boyfriend. The pair went to her home, where a female friend called asking her to return to the bar 'for fun'. She returned to the lounge at about 3am and could not recall what happened after that. The case continues before Deputy Judge Michael McMahon.
