Chinese New Year can be an expensive time for punters.

But those wishing to line their lai see packets in advance have next Wednesday night's Happy Valley meeting to bolster the finances.

And they would be well advised to pay attention to the Class Six Wing Lok Handicap where lower-grade galloper Room For More looks ready to break through for his maiden Hong Kong win.

Alex Wong Siu-tan (right) is enjoying his best season in years and the veteran trainer has Room For More primed for his assault on this 1,800-metre event.

Yesterday morning young stable apprentice Eric Lee was in the saddle as Room For More worked stylishly over 1,200 metres with Merry Star and the gallop followed on from another handy workout earlier in the week when Room For More more than held his own with the higher-graded Harmony Prnce.

There is no doubt that the son of Citidancer would be better suited over more ground, but such is his condition at this time, he should prove too good for his rivals.

And if he does break through, there is every chance he can go on with it as there are more staying races available for him in Class Five.
