HONGKONG tycoon Mr Li Ka Shing's right-hand man in Vancouver, Mr Stanley Kwok, who has successfully handled the massive re-development of the city's Expo site, has resigned to go into private practice. The vice-president of Concord Pacific Developments has spent several years turning the north shore of False Creek into Vancouver's largest inner-city conversion of industrial land in the city's history. Mr Kwok, who was elected to the Bank of Montreal's board of directors earlier this year, moved to Canada from Hongkong in 1968 to establish a career in property development. He was president of B. C. Place from 1984 to 1987 before joining Concord Pacific. In February, he was named Business Leader of the Year by the Vancouver Junior Board of Trade, and on Friday was given a glowing tribute by the city's mayor, Mr Gordon Campbell.
