The question of compensation remains unresolved a year after the crash, according to victims' relatives. Wong Yung, sister-in-law of victim Chan Tit-keung and wife Thitiphansorasak Somporn, has met with little success in getting money. 'I've been to the Legal Aid Department more than 100 times, but we have been told we have to wait between nine months to three years before the compensation issue can be resolved,' Ms Wong said. She said the conviction of the driver yesterday did not mean much to their family. 'I've heard about the verdict from the news. I don't know anything about the law nor do I know what justice means. I just want to have the issue resolved as soon as possible,' Ms Wong said. Lunar New Year had become a tragic reminder rather than a festival to celebrate for their family, she said. 'Every Chinese New Year will remind us about the sadness.' A Citybus spokesman said each of five victims' families had been given $30,000 emergency relief. The compensation issue was being followed up by the firm's insurance company.
