Batman firm sues over fakes

An American comic book producer is taking court action against a Hong Kong factory it says is making fake Batman toys and passing them off as the real thing.

New York-based DC Comics says Batman and Robin characters, to which it owns the copyright, are being copied by a Mongkok firm.

In a writ lodged in the High Court by its SAR lawyer, the company is demanding Polymax Toys Factory hand over or destroy all such counterfeit products.

DC Comics also wants all dyes, templates, labels, leaflets and packaging used in the production and sale of the toys to be destroyed or surrendered.

The company is seeking unspecified damages and costs.
