Mangled wreckage is all that remains of a car that hit a lamppost in Pat Heung, Yuen Long, yesterday killing a man and seriously injuring his younger brother. Two women who were not wearing seatbelts were hurled through the windscreen. They were in stable condition in hospital last night. The Honda Accord's front wheels, engine, doors and other parts were ripped off when it careered out of control on a left bend in Pat Heung Road outside Shek Wu Tong Vegetable Station at about 1am yesterday. The car, heading towards Kam Tin, smashed eight metres of railings and then rammed the lamppost before coming to a halt. Driver To Tak-ming, 19, and his 21-year-old brother, To Wai-ming, had to be cut free by firemen. They were taken to Pok Oi Hospital where the elder brother was declared dead at 2.05am.
