A woman was found murdered on Coloane Island, Macau, last night after her family failed to pay a $15 million ransom. The body of Fatima Monteiro, 40, was found on a hill near the Macau Golf and Country Club by a Marine Police constable on a routine patrol at about 5pm. A police source said the woman had been kidnapped in the car park of the building where she lived on Monday. He said the family had not told police. The source said the abductors had asked for a $15 million ransom, which the family said they had not paid. Monteiro had been strangled, probably on Wednesday. The source said the woman's husband was a wealthy businessman with casino-related interests.
