A JOSTLING incident between two strangers as they got off a light rail train ended with one dead and the other on trial for murder, a High Court jury heard yesterday.

Senior Crown counsel Miss Diane Crebbin told the court that post office inspector Tang Wai-keung, 32, and the deceased Mr Yip Wai-nin, 38, started fighting after accidentally jostling each other at San Wai station on March 20 last year.

She said Tang chased Mr Yip, a jewellery salesman, and hit his head twice against a lamp post, causing him to collapse.

Tang then deliberately hit Mr Yip's head twice on the ground, Miss Crebbin said.

An off-duty police officer stopped Tang and the kiss-of-life was given to Mr Yip. But he was dead on arrival at hospital and a post mortem examination found he died from brain injuries.

Tang, who has denied the charge, is represented by Mr Kevin Egan.
