The Women's Rights Concern Alliance questioned 1,274 women in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon City, Shamshuipo, Mongkok and Kwun Tong and 88.2 per cent said the judgment would lead to an increase in marital disputes.

The survey showed 84.2 per cent were also worried the judgment, which gives illegitimate mainland children of Hong Kong residents the right of abode in the SAR, would have an impact on monogamy.

'The judgment indirectly acknowledges Hong Kong people taking second wives in the mainland,' the alliance said.

It urged the Government to amend the law to make a person guilty of bigamy if involved in a second marriage in such circumstances.

The alliance suggested the Government should pace the arrival of mainlanders by allowing a maximum of 100,000 people per year, with priority being given to the young, elderly and disabled.
