Kidnaps going unreported: tycoon

There has been a series of unreported kidnappings in Macau involving big names, casino tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun revealed yesterday.

Mr Ho said the victims did not inform police because they had been threatened by their captors.

Hong Kong tycoons who had been kidnapped also did not report the cases, he said.

Mr Ho said many rich businessmen in Macau were more worried about being kidnapped than triad activities.

'I am not afraid but many people are very frightened. It's much easier to make money [by kidnapping],' he said.

'We aren't worried about triad groups fighting and killing each other.
