It has been a year to remember for long-serving trainer Alex Wong Siu-tan.

With a little over a third of the season remaining he has already trained 22 winners.

And yesterday's trial session at Happy Valley suggested that there are more to come, with his unraced griffin Greenmore sending out strong signals as he did well to take the first of five heats.

The three-year-old son of Kingmambo has been catching the eye at work since first coming onto the tracks and he made a good impression as he surged away to take the heat from some handy performers in Laureate and Monza.

Robbie Fradd, back for his second stint as Club jockey, had the reins and he got the colt into a good spot early as Northern General and Laureate disputed the lead, thus ensuring a good pace. The youngster travelled well throughout the 1,650-metre trip and responded gamely when Fradd asked him to quicken at the top of the straight.

It was an effort which indicated Greenmore will take plenty of beating when Wong first produces him against his own age.

In what was a relatively lacklustre group of trials, it was again the babies who caught the attention in the fourth batch won by Sterling Chance.
