TMM, the leading Mexican transport and logistics company, and APL, the container and logistics arm of Neptune Orient Lines, will boost weekly trans-Pacific container service between Asia and Mexico early next month.
The improved service, using six container vessels, will include the industry's first non-stop trans-Pacific call at the Mexican port of Ensenada, and the fastest service between Asia and the port of Manzanillo - the gateway to Mexico City.
'Given the projected growth we see in the trade, especially in the eastbound direction, we are introducing an unprecedented level of service,' TMM and APL officials said.
The new service also would facilitate exports of refrigerated products from Mexico, they said.
The service speed will be improved with the elimination from the rotation of two calls on the US West Coast and two calls at Pacific islands.
TMM will operate all six ships and APL will slot-charter a large amount of space.
