The Hong Kong Post and the Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) are to issue definitive stamp sheets to commemorate the achievements of the SAR's elite athletes at December's Bangkok Asian Games. The specially designed sheets, including a limited edition of 2,000 sets which feature the autographs of all the 17 Asian Games medallists and cost $600 each, will be available to the public on March 27 at all post offices in Hong Kong. Every sheet has the printed image of the medal winners, the Hong Kong team logo and the Bangkok Games' logo. SF&OC honorary secretary Pang Chung said the net proceedings will be distributed to the athletes through their respective National Sports Associations. Pang said the seven gold medallists - windsurfing queen Lee Lai-shan, cycling ace Wong Kam-po, wushu exponent Ng Siu-chung, tenpin bowling star Sunny Hui Cheung-kwok and the snooker trio of Marco Fu Ka-chun, Chan Kwok-ming and Chan Wai-tat - will obtain a bigger share. However, it is expected the proceeds would be less than those generated from the 1996 Olympics' issue. While a $1.6 million profit was generated from a similar program following San San's Olympic triumph, Hong Kong Post acting director Luk Ping-chuen expected the response from the public would not be as good as last time.
