Tung Chee-hwa has rejected meeting legislators to discuss the three reports on the airport opening fiasco.

But yesterday he promised to keep Legco panels informed of follow-up action.

'I consider that I have already made clear my views on the findings of the inquiry reports,' Mr Tung said.

'I hope, therefore, you will agree that there is no need for me to have a meeting with the Legislative Council to discuss this subject.

'Indeed, the problems are now behind us.

'I am convinced that the officers concerned have at all times acted in good faith and have performed their duties with due diligence.' The Chief Executive's comments came in a written reply to Dr Leong Che-hung, chairman of the Legco House Committee.
