Follow the man in form - former champion trainer Ivan Allan. That was the clear message from yesterday's revealing Sha Tin trackwork session.
The Derby-winning handler not only has the likes of Indigenous, Oriental Express, Billion Win and Holy Grail primed for Saturday's exciting Gold Cup clash with Johan Cruyff who could be blinkered and is likely to be ridden by Freddie Sanchez.
He also had form picks Destination and Win For Lily out and about for light work in readiness for races five and seven on Sha Tin's mixed grass and dirt meeting tonight.
And when Allan does this it is always worth taking notice.
Time and time again when he gives them some light work on the main or inside track on the day before racing, his horses go close.
Destination and Win For Lily jump off the page as form picks, as it is. Yesterday was just a further pointer in the right direction.
Allan has someway to go before he's on the pace in the race for the training supremacy but the way he's making giant strides, he is likely to be right in there come the final few meetings.
