I am writing in response to the article headlined 'University proposal raises doubts' (Young Post, February 22).
Scrapping Form Seven is certainly not a good idea for students who cannot get good results in the HKCEE. The A-levels give these students a second chance. They can still be admitted to university if they do well in the A-levels.
On the other hand, a four- year university programme will give students more chances to tap their creativity and build up problem-solving skills. Students will certainly benefit from such a programme.
Nowadays society needs people equipped with knowledge in different areas. The more you know, the greater chance you will get a job.
I think the most effective solution is to retain Form Seven while extending the university curriculum to four years.
