Henderson Land Development is to take part in two joint ventures with the Land Development Corp (LDC) at an estimated investment cost of $6 billion, according to chairman Lee Shau-kee.
The developer last week was awarded a contract as joint-venture partner with the LDC for the urban renewal projects in Wan Chai and Central, he said.
Mr Lee said the prolonged process of site assembly work would not dampen the group's interest in taking part in similar redevelopments.
'The move is part of our plan to replenish [our] land bank,' he said.
The two projects will add more than 1.28 million square feet in gross floor area to the group's land bank.
The Wan Chai project, in Lee Tung Street, is the biggest among the eight projects recently offered for tender by the LDC.
It can produce 610,850 sq ft of residential space, 117,320 sq ft of offices and 139,500 sq ft of retail space.
