In response to Martyn Bell's letter (South China Morning Post, March 18) directed at me, I wish to clarify a few of his presumptions and question his conclusion.
In my letter (Post, March 10), I argued that a golf resort would be preferable to Disneyland. Mr Bell mistook me as a golfer who has trouble getting on to a golf course.
On the contrary, I am a member of a private club and can play whenever I wish.
While I was writing the letter, I was thinking about the numerous golfers who have to carry their bags and clubs across the border simply to play a round of golf and the fact that there is indeed a growing section of the population wishing to take up the game without the chance of getting proper training and a course to play on.
There have been many newspaper articles about this problem. Compared to a smaller city like Singapore, there are still fewer golf courses per capita in Hong Kong, so I do not think that numerous is an apt description.
As for Disneyland, perhaps for the benefit of Mr Bell, the obvious will have to be stated.
