Hearts fluttered and pulses raced at The Oriental Hotel in Bangkok when Leonardo DiCaprio turned up unexpectedly to spend a weekend in the capital city.
Taking a break from filming The Beach, Leonardo checked in with 10 of his friends and apparently had a great time enjoying the city nightlife.
The Oriental is of course the place to stay in Bangkok, having been a home away from home to scores of celebrities. Consistently voted the best hotel in the world, it belongs to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Hong Kong and is the flagship of the group, with the Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong its sister hotel.
Leonardo naturally made the most of his two-day stay in Bangkok, and apart from visiting the Grand Palace and temples and taking long-tail boat rides, he also enjoyed a Thai-boxing match in the Lumpini Stadium.
Leonardo also painted the town red and particularly liked the RCA disco, where he and his friends partied till 4am.
'Bangkok is such an exciting city for young people . . . Thai people really do enjoy life!' he said. Leonardo also found time to unwind at the hotel's spa, which is known for its relaxing massages and pampering treatments.
