A DELIVERY worker who tried to rape a woman after robbing her in a lift was jailed for eight years by the High Court yesterday. Lin Ka-po, 20, pleaded guilty to the robbery and attempted rape of a 25-year-old hotel worker. Senior Assistant Crown Prosecutor Mr Michael McMahon said the woman was returning to her Tsuen Wan home just after midnight on May 31, 1991, when Lin followed her into the lift. He robbed her at knifepoint then touched her breasts. He then removed her skirt and took her down the stairs to the 11th floor, where he tried to rape her on the landing. Defence counsel Mr John Dunn said that Lin had drifted into trouble after family arguments, a break-up with his girlfriend and involvement with drugs.
